Paystack offers merchants free ecommerce training ahead of Black Friday

  • Paystack will be hosting a free training day for local SMEs hoping to improve their ecommerce strategy.
  • The training is limited to 100 SMEs and will be taking place in Cape Town exclusively.
  • Paystack has brought several partners on board including WooCommerce, The Local Edit, Zoho, TUNL Woww, xneelo, and TDMC.

The end of the year is marked by Dezemba, a national event where South Africa just basically enters holiday-mode for a month. This usually starts after the flurry of the festive shopping season which has, in recent years at least, been marked by Black Friday.

Many retailers have adopted the event locally, but unfortunately, Black Friday is still often marked by ecommerce platforms and entire websites collapsing under the weight of increased traffic.

In a bid to help businesses stay online, Paystack has said it will be providing free online payment processing and ecommerce training to local SMEs.

“As online retail continues to grow in South Africa, businesses won’t just be competing against traditional retailers but also against ecommerce players of all sizes. As such, they will have to deliver the best possible customer experience in order to remain competitive during this festive shopping season. Paystack’s free ecommerce skills training will go a long way in helping local businesses become competitive,” says country lead for Paystack in South Africa.

The catch is that space is limited to 100 people and attendees will be granted access on a first come, first served basis. The training will take place at Workshop17 at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

For those who do nab a spot, Paystack will provide them with up to R1 million in free online payments processing. The training will guide SMEs through setting up or honing their implementation of payment platforms such as WooCommerce and Shopify. The training will take place on 28th October, a reasonable amount of time to implement the learnings from the training in your processes.

Paystack has brought several partners on board including WooCommerce, The Local Edit, Zoho, TUNL Woww, xneelo and TDMC. These partners will help the SMEs get to grips with what customers may expect when shopping online this Black Friday.
