A roundup of this week’s best new movie and series trailers

  • Over the past 24 hours, a number of trailers for new series and movies have surfaced online.
  • These include trailers for films we had no idea were in development, such as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
  • We’ve roundup up a varying lineup, including animated films, documentaries, and big budget monster flicks.

If you were heading down another YouTube rabbit hole over the past 24 hours, you likely spotted a bunch of new trailers for upcoming films and TV series, some of which, you never even knew were in development, such as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (seen in the header image).

It is with that in mind that we have rounded up seven new trailers that have piqued our interest, whether it is for good or bad reasons.

Looking at the options assembled below, it includes a fairly wide gamut of media, including one animated film that we’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of in the form of The Boy and the Heron. It is unclear when the film will be available to watch in local cinemas, but also expected to arrive before the year’s end is the aforementioned Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which takes place several generations after the recent trilogy involving Caesar.

Another notable trailers we have included below see a new intriguing series from FX titled Shogun. As the name would suggest it focuses on the feudal era Japan, and is set to arrive in February next year. Given that it is an FX property, hopefully that means it will be available for Disney+ subscribers in SA. The same goes for Hulu’s documentary on the short-lived, but excellent Brawn GP Formula 1 team, with Keanu Reeves serving as narrator and guide.

We’ve also included The Fall Guy, which seems to a very odd film in which Ryan Gosling plays a stunt man who needs to save a real-life actor. It features a bunch of A-listers and may simply be worth a watch if only to find out whether Gosling is once again literally like me, for real.
