Destiny 2’s Fireteam Finder stress test slated for next week

  • Bungie will conduct a stress test of its Fireteam Finder systems next week Thursday.
  • The stress test will start at 19:00 SAST, but may end early depending on how the systems fare.
  • Should the test go well, a beta test will run in December.

For many years Destiny 2 players have to go beyond the borders of the game to find other players to play the game with. Next week that changes with a stress test of the Fire Team Finder feature.

Announced during a recent Bungie Showcase, Fireteam Finder promises to make it easier to find a team that will help you complete Raids, Dungeons, Master Nightfalls and other endgame activities. Players will get their first look at the Fireteam Finder on 30th November.

“After almost two years of hard work, we will start Fireteam Finder’s beta test shortly after Season of the Wish launches. Starting on November 30, players will have access to the first public Raids Stress Test of the new group-finding tool, while we gather data to help get things working smoothly,” Bungie writes.

“This first test will focus only on raids. Be aware that this is one of the most ambitious launches we’ve had for Destiny in a long time, so please be patient and share with us all your feedback, so we can work the gremlins out of the system. Our goal with this launch is clear: to ensure Fireteam Finder scales properly for millions of players and to deliver a world-class LFG tool for all activities in the near future.”

The stress test on 30th November will begin at 19:00 SAST on 30th November and run until 03:00 SAST on 1st December. Bungie does state that depending on how the test goes, it may have to end the test early.

If everything goes well, a wider beta test will take place in December and if that also goes well, a full launch could happen in late-January.

Players will be able to access the Fireteam Finder from the Director via the Roster sub-menu or from an access point found on every activity’s launch screen.

All Guardians you say Bungie.
What the Fireteam Finder should look like in the future.

“Both the website and Companion app will remain available until the new Fireteam Finder, both in-game and out-of-game, is ready. Yup, the Bungie.net team has been hard at work developing a new out-of-game Fireteam Finder that’s fully integrated with the in-game system. However, it’s not going to be available during the early beta period,” Bungie notes.

While the Fireteam Finder is a nice addition to the game, we have to wonder how relevant it will be for veteran players who are part of a clan or use other services to find teammates. It will be nice for new players for sure and ultimately, it’s a solution Destiny has needed since it launched.
