A fixture on the continent’s technology calendar for a number of years now, the Africa Tech Festival is once again back for 2023, and is set to take place next week in Cape Town from 13th to 16th November.

As part of the event, an Awards ceremony is scheduled once more, with it set to be held on the evening of the 15th. As we are a little over a week before the event takes place, the finalists for this year’s have been named.

Organisers explain that this year, 247 nominations were received for people, businesses, and projects across the African continent. This list of nominations were narrowed down to a shortlist of 58, who then received more than 14 000 public votes.

We now have a list of all the finalists who have been selected, with 10 different categories making up this year’s Awards.

“It is an exciting time to be in technology and telecommunications as can be seen from the multitude of entries we received for consideration on this year’s awards,” noted James Williams, senior event director, in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“These annual awards are the pinnacle of an industry that is having a profound effect on the daily lives of Africans.
