The state of SA esports with Bravado Gaming

THIS EPISODE OF THE DISCOURSE IS PROUDLY SPONSORED BY RECTRON.

While the Springboks were securing the Webb Ellis Trophy in the Rugby World Cup 2023, Valve was hosting its Dota 2 The International tournament.

This tournament has, in previous years, featured the biggest prize pool in esports and while this year’s tournament was rather subdued as regards the prize pool, it was still a fantastic esports event.

South African esports has been grinding along for many years now and one of the stalwarts in the scene is Bravado Gaming. Reborn in 2006 after it was originally formed in 2002 before disbanding, the organisation has grown to feature teams across multiple esports titles and has now become a lifestyle brand as well.

We sat down with general manager of Bravado Gaming, Tristan Rens to discuss the history and development of the team as well as what the landscape of local esports looks like these days.

With rAge taking place early this month, this is a great conversation to listen to ahead of the event, especially if you want to enjoy the esports that will feature at the expo happening from 8th – 10th December at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.
