Destiny 2 DLC first of 17 games Epic Games Store is giving away for free

  • The Destiny 2: Legacy Collection is available for free on the Epic Games Store until 20th December.
  • The Legacy Collection includes the Shadowkeep, Beyond Light and The Witch Queen expansions.
  • Epic Games will be giving away a free game every day via the Epic Games Store.

While the Epic Games Store is well known for frequently giving games away for free, this behaviour usually ramps up in December and this year is no different.

As of 13th December, the Epic Games Store will feature a new free game every day for 17 days according to Polygon. The first of those free games is Destiny 2 DLC in the form of The Legacy Collection. All you need to do to get the game is to sign up for a free Epic Games Store account and claim the DLC before 20th December.

The Legacy Collection includes three mainline expansions namely Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and the best expansion to date, The Witch Queen. Shadowkeep was rather boring in hindsight and while Beyond Light introduces Stasis, it’s a bit of a nothing-burger as regards the story. The Witch Queen was remarkable and tells one of the best stories since Forsaken.

“Play through three epic campaigns, unlock 37 Exotic weapons, 15 Exotic pieces of armor, and the power of Stasis, allowing you to lock down and control the battlefield,” reads the bundle’s description.

While that is a lot of content, it’s not everything Destiny 2 has to offer and players may be disappointed to find they can’t participate in the most recent or relevant activities.

These expansions include access to three Raids namely Garden of Salvation, Deep Stone Crypt and Vow of the Disciple. Unfortunately, a Dungeon Key needs to be purchased separately to access Dungeons from these campaigns.

Usually, this bundle costs R899 so we really shouldn’t be looking a gift horse in the mouth like this but it’s important to know that three expansions worth of content doesn’t mean all of that content is available.

Back to the Epic Games Store giveaways, this is a great way to fill out your library especially with GeForce Now having launched in South Africa last week. The next free game from Epic Games will be available at around 16:30 SAST in six days so be sure to check the platform then to get another free game.

With tomorrow being a public holiday thanks to the Springbok Rugby team, we plan on doing some serious gaming this long weekend and hopefully Epic has a few gems under its sleeves as we approach Christmas.
