Huawei to launch latest MatePad Pro globally next week

  • Huawei is set to launch the MatePad Pro 13.2″ globally at an event held in Dubai on 12th December 2023.
  • The tablet was previously only available in China and is the largest Huawei tablet out yet.
  • Huawei South Africa doesn’t sell any Pro MatePad devices, but this may change with this latest launch.

Mobile tech manufacturer Huawei revealed earlier this week that it would be hosting an event in Dubai on 12th December with the title of “Innovative Product Launch.” The company did not mention what products it would be launching at the event, but we now have a better idea of what could be seen.

According to Huawei’s official X account, the company will be looking to globally launch the latest Huawei MatePad Pro tablet – the MatePad Pro 13.2″. Previously this tablet was exclusive to the Chinese market, Huawei’s home base, and was initially launched in September of this year.

The launch of this device will coincide with the first Huawei tablet launch, which will be 10 years from the launch date.

“The global tablet market has continued to shrink since 2016, as new large-screen smartphones and lightweight laptops have emerged to fill the market. Despite this move, HUAWEI has stayed committed to a market many vendors have left, pursuing high-level innovation and development, and launching a wide array of groundbreaking products, bringing a breath of fresh air into the market,” the company shares in a press release about the upcoming MatePad Pro.

Huawei has said that it is the largest tablet it has launched globally yet. The MatePad Pro 13.2″ is powered by the Kirin 9000S chipset, runs up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage space. The screen size of the tablet is the largest of the MatePad category from Huawei, with a 13.2″ 144Hz OLED display. It also has a bestial 10 100mAh battery size, with 88W wired charging.

It has a three-camera array, with a 13MP primary, 8MP ultrawide and 16MP selfie camera.

In South Africa, the latest tablet released from Huawei is the MatePad 11.5″. This is a smaller and less powerful device than the upcoming MatePad Pro 13.2″. In fact, Huawei South Africa has yet to see a “Pro” tablet hit the local market, with only products in the T and SE series. There is a chance that this may change with the MatePad Pro 13.2″ seeing as the product will be launched globally.
