Dune: Part One returns to South African cinemas with a Part Two sneak peek

  • Dune: Part One will be re-released in South Africa on 9th February.
  • IMAX showings will be included in this re-release.
  • A sneak peek of Dune: Part Two will be included.

For those who missed seeing Dune: Part One in cinemas, and for those who want to have that experience again, take note of a re-release happening in the country very soon.

On 9th February Dune (2021) will again be available to see on the biggest screens in the country. Both Nu Metro and Ster-Kinekor will be showing the movie with the latter offering IMAX screenings too.

This re-release doesn’t seem to have been loaded onto Nu Metro’s website right now, but it is listed on the forthcoming section of its website. Ster-Kinekor, on the other hand, has the re-release loaded here and you can already book your ticket.

Right now it seems that only 2D IMAX showings are available at R210 per ticket.

On top of having another chance to experience this movie in cinemas, attendees will get to see a bit of the sequel too.

“Dune returns on 9 February. This is your chance to experience Denis Villeneuve’s film the way it was meant to be seen. This special experience also includes a sneak peek at #DunePartTwo. Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve (‘Arrival,’ ‘Blade Runner 2049’) directs Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ ‘Dune,’ the big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal bestseller of the same name,” a press release sent to us reads.

“A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, ‘Dune’ tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.”

It will be interesting to see what this sneak peek entails, especially because Dune: Part Two is so close to release on 1st March. Several trailers and other pieces of advertising have also been released by Warner Bros..

Part Two was planned for release in 2023 but the SAG-AFTRA strikes delayed those plans.

If that isn’t enough Dune for you, why not also pick up the LEGO set which is releasing on 1st February?
