• Unveiled late last year alongside some other new hardware, the Huawei MateBook D 16 is now available to purchase in South Africa.

Towards the tail end of last year, Huawei held a launch event for the Middle East and Africa region highlighting some new wearables and hardware. Regarding the latter, the MateBook D 16 2024 was unveiled, with it being one of the first among that batch of electronics to land in South Africa.

To that end the MateBook D 16 has been up for pre-order for a couple of weeks now, but today it officially goes on sale.

Unlike previous generation of D-series MateBooks from Huawei, the D 16 2024 sits firmly in the category of an enterprise-focused notebook, and is ultimately designed for those wanting to upgrade from the unit they may have used during their university or tertiary study days.

In terms of the different internal configurations that local consumers can opt for, there will be both an Intel 12th Gen i5 and 13th Gen i9 offering in South Africa.

It should also be noted that at the time of writing, the i9 iteration is not listed for sale, and is expected in the coming weeks. The i5 flavour is available, however, and starts at R14 999 with a pair of wireless earphones, Bluetooth mouse, and backpack bundled with it for good measure while stocks last.

As for the i9 version, Huawei highlights the following, stating that, “The 13th Gen High Performance Intel Core i9 Processor is a multi-tasking master, supporting more powerful and stable computing, and boosting single-core performance by 23.6% and multi-core performance by 142.3%.”
