Cisco and NVIDIA to deliver AI infrastructure via the channel

  • Cisco and NVIDIA have announced a partnership where the pair will offer enterprises cloud-based and on-premises AI infrastructure.
  • Cisco and NVIDIA’s purpose-built Ethernet networking-based solutions will be sold through the former’s global channel.
  • The new offering is expected to be made available to the channel market in Q2 of this year, with pricing still in the offing.

With the technology world in a state of frenzy over the prospect and potential of artificial intelligence, numerous industries are looking for ways to imbue it. The same holds true for data centres, which is why Cisco and NVIDIA have announced a partnership to bring AI infrastructure solutions to customer both via the cloud and on-premises.

The pair aim to offer simplified networking and software solutions, including infrastructure management, secure AI infrastructure, observable end-to-end AI solutions, and access to NVIDIA AI Enterprise software that supports the building and deployment of advanced AI and generative AI workloads.

“AI is fundamentally changing how we work and live, and history has shown that a shift of this magnitude is going to require enterprises to rethink and re-architect their infrastructures,” noted Chuck Robbins, CEO of Cisco.

“Strengthening our great partnership with NVIDIA is going to arm enterprises with the technology and the expertise they need to build, deploy, manage, and secure AI solutions at scale,” he added in a release shared with Hypertext.

It is not the first time that both companies have looked to collaborate within this environment, with each offering a broad range of integrated product solutions over the past several years across Webex devices and data centre compute environments to enable hybrid workforces with flexible workspaces, AI-powered meetings and virtual desktop infrastructure.

“Companies everywhere are racing to transform their businesses with generative AI. Working closely with Cisco, we’re making it easier than ever for enterprises to obtain the infrastructure they need to benefit from AI, the most powerful technology force of our lifetime,” highlighted Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.

The release also pointed out that Cisco and NVIDIA’s purpose-built ethernet networking-based solutions will be sold through the former’s global channel in a bid to offer professional services and support through key partners in different regions, helping businesses deploy their GPU clusters via the ethernet infrastructure.

As for when your business will be able to leverage the technology these solutions tout, Cisco said it expects to make the AI infrastructure offering available in Q2 of this calendar year, although a more precise date has not been detailed for South Africa at this stage.
