2024’s Summer Game Fest (or not E3) kicks off on 7th June

  • The date for this year’s Summer Game Fest has been set as 7th June.
  • Geoff Keighley is expected to host a number of game developers and publishers as they showcase their latest/upcoming titles.
  • Summer Game Fest has now replaced E3 for all intents and purposes as the gaming event for North America.

There was a time when anyone interested in gaming marked June down In their diary for E3 as the event to find out what new titles are on the way. Ever since the pandemic, the fate of the Los Angeles-based expo has been up in the air, but last year it officially came to an end.

Stepping into its void has been the Summer Game Fest, organised and presented by Geoff Keighley.

For 2024, which is the fifth edition of Summer Game Fest, an official date has been set, with the event kicking off on 7th June.

It has a landing page, where those interested in what’s in the pipeline for the rest of the year and beyond, can sign up for updates or alerts.

The live stream for the event begins at 23:00 SAST, but at the time of writing it is unclear which developers and publishers will be present, with some choosing to host standalone events in lieu of E3 no longer being an option to showcase what they’ve been working on.

While we await to see which developers and publishers will be joining Keighley on stage come 7th June, it is clear now that Summer Game Fest has become the event that many gaming fans in North America turn to.

Outside of this upcoming event, Gamescom in Cologne, Germany and Tokyo Game Show (TGS) in Japan will be the other big gaming showcases for the year when they roll around in August and September respectively.
