Bolt adds a new feature that drivers have been asking for

  • A new feature called Driver Destinations is coming to Bolt locally.
  • It allows drivers to set their end-destination in-app, and potentially choose from multiple orders.
  • Bolt says it will increase earning opportunities for drivers through advanced routing.

Ridehailing service Bolt has just launched a new in-app feature that will be of interest to drivers and couriers who make use of the platform in particular. The feature is called Driver Destinations, and as the name implies, it will allow drivers to set their end-destination in-app.

According to Bolt, the new feature will help by providing a high-quality ridehailing experience for drivers and riders by increasing earning opportunities for drivers through advanced routing, and increasing access to ridehailing services for riders.

“The upgrade is based on feedback from Bolt’s network of 3.5 million fleet, driver and courier partners that it can take longer for them to pick up ride-hailing orders when they’re on their way home. That’s because it can be harder for them to find an order that matches their specific location and end destination. This means driver-partners may choose not to earn at all on their way home, which also means that riders are waiting for longer to be picked up,” highlights Bolt in a release shared with Hypertext.

“With Driver Destinations, driver-partners are able to add their destination in the Driver app and choose from multiple orders that gradually help bring them closer to their end destination so they can continue to earn while they’re on their way home,” it adds.

The rollout of the platform’s new Driver Destination feature is part of a longer-term upgrade of existing routing functionality in the driver portion of the app.

“The new Bolt Rewards programme enhances driver engagement and empowers the driver community with rewards and discounts,” the company concludes.
