- Honor is preparing to launch two new flagship phones locally – the Magic V2 and the Magic6 Pro.
- The Magic V2 would be the first foldable phone that the company has launched locally.
- No precise date has been mentioned, but the devices are being launched on the back of significant local growth for the brand in 2023.
Honor had a great 2023 locally. The brand “re-launched” in South Africa last year by introducing a handful of devices including a flagship phone in the form of the Honor 90 5G. Now the company is readying to launch a pair of flagship phones to kick off 2024 – the Magic V2 and Magic6 Pro.
The former is one of the company’s latest foldables, having debuted last year in China, but it would be the first foldable that it has officially made available to purchase in SA. As for the Magic6 Pro, it was debuted in China first too, thereafter taking a bow at MWC 24 last month.
“Heralding a new era in smartphone technology, global technology brand HONOR, who was the fastest-growing smartphone brand in 2023 in South Africa, is gearing up to unveil its highly anticipated next-generation flagship models, the HONOR Magic V2 and Magic6 Pro, in the country,” it confirmed in a release shared with Hypertext.
“These devices mark a significant leap forward in innovation, boasting cutting-edge features that promise to redefine industry standards in both foldable and AI technology,” it added.
At the time of writing, it remains to be seen when precisely the new devices will be available in SA, or indeed how much they will cost when they do, but it’s clear that Honor is ramping up its efforts in 2024 to be a major player within the South African Android market.
