• realme has launched another mid-range smartphone in South Africa in the form of the C67.

We are nearing a year since realme officially launched in South Africa, and while the brand is yet to make the kind of splash many were thinking it would, the phone maker has slowly been building a solid lineup of affordably priced devices locally. The latest offering is the realme C67, with it featuring one of the largest cameras found in this segment.

More on that shortly, as the local launch of the realme C67 also happens to coincide with the brand shipping 200 million units globally. It is moving at quite some pace too, as it passed the 100 million mark in November last year, signalling its rapid growth in such a short amount of time.

Back to the current device and the C67 features several noteworthy elements for an affordable smartphone in the mid-range space. To that end it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 chipset. Added to this is 8GB RAM and up to 256GB onboard storage, with 4G connectivity supported.

If 5G was in the mix, we could have been looking at a genuine contender to Samsung’s Galaxy A series dominance in this segment.

As for the camera array on the rear, a large 108MP lens is present which serves up 3x in-sensor zoom. This is paired with a 2MP lens with an 80-degree field of view, and an 8MP lens up front for the selfie camera.

Lastly worth mentioning on the specifications side is a 5 000mAh battery, which also leverages OPPO’s SUPERVOOC 33W fast charging capabilities. This feature allows you to charge up the C67 to 50 percent in just 26 minutes of being plugged in.

Shifting to availability and pricing, and the realme C67 is recommended to retail for R7 499. It is available to purchase now from MTN-branded stores on contract starting from R399 per month, with the device landing at Vodacom outlets in April.
