After dethroning PewDiePie, T-Series is taking on MrBeast

  • T-Series has announced a campaign pushing for more subscribers on YouTube.
  • It is currently the most subscribed channel on the platform at 263 million, but MrBeast is not that far behind.
  • Whether we will see the same kind of engagement as was the case with PweDiePie in 2019, remains to be seen.

Back in 2019, the internet picked two sides – PewDiePie or T-Series.

The pair duked it out in a faux feud to see which channel would garner the most subscribers on YouTube, and despite putting out one of the best diss tracks in recent memory, T-Series was eventually victorious as the Indian entertainment channel leveraged the might of its massive population to become the most subscribed channel on YouTube.

Now five years later, T-Series faces another challenger in the form of MrBeast (aka Jimmy Donaldson).

The former is still number one on the platform with 263 million subscribers at the time of writing, but MrBeast is not that far behind with 252 million subscribers on his main channel.

In an effort to create some breathing space between the two, T-Series this week published a video (embedded below) on its account urging Indian citizens to subscribe. It is also leaning heavily on the patriotic rhetoric to do so.

“TO ALL THOSE WHO FIND SOLACE, JOY, AND INSPIRATION IN MUSIC, AND TO OUR FELLOW INDIANS BROTHERS & SISTERS. LET’S UNITE TOGETHER AND CREATE A HISTORY OF EMOTIONS, MEMORIES, AND DREAMS TOGETHER. SUBSCRIBE, AND LET’S EMBARK ON THIS BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY AS ONE UNITED FAMILY,” reads a description for the video.

At the time of writing the video only has a little over 125k views, so it’s unclear if the call to arms subscribe has been heard.

It’s also uncertain how MrBeast will react to the metaphorical gauntlet being thrown down, or whether he will create content to specifically ensure he can overtake T-Series. That said, it looks like he is keen on claiming the number one spot, having noted as much back in November of last year.

Hopefully we will get another banger diss track out of this, although we’re not sure whether Donaldson has those kinds of bars.
