Honor changes its website domain

  • Honor has announced a change to its website domain effective immediately.
  • Where it previously used the url hihonor.com it has since been simplified to honor.com.
  • While it looks a small change to the brand, it should help the brand further distinguish itself from being a former sub-brand of Huawei.

In recent years Honor has looked to relaunch its consumer electronics brand after splitting from Huawei.

Last year in particular, the brand has asserted its presence in regions like South Africa, and now it has announced another small change to assist in distinguishing itself from being a former Huawei sub-brand.

To that end it is changing its website domain effective immediately.

Where it previously used www.hihonor.com, the brand is simply switching to www.honor.com. If you visit the previous domain, you’ll be redirected to the new one, with the South African version also redirecting.

“Three years ago, HONOR commenced operations as a fully independent brand. After finding its footing in a highly saturated, competitive landscape – HONOR is now ready to take its spot as a leader in the AI-driven smartphone sector, and renaming its domain in a way that more effectively reflects the brand is part of the process,” the company noted in a release shared with Hypertext.

“The word ‘HONOR’is a strong, emotive term – which instills our team with a sense of purpose to provide cutting-edge products that deliver unrivaled innovation. Not only is this a transition that better reflects our brand, but it also allows us to be more visible online to our loyal and potential consumers,” added George Zhao, CEO of HONOR Device Co., Ltd.

While this is indeed a small change, as aforementioned, it should help the brand in emphasising that is no longer a part of the Huawei ecosystem in any way.
