SAB launches first Talent Challenge for local graduates

  • South African Breweries has announced the first edition of its SA Talent Challenge.
  • It is an immersive recruitment program designed to provide employment opportunities to young local graduates.
  • Applications for the Talent Challenge are now open and close on 31st May 2024.

The South African Breweries (SAB) has announced the launched the first edition of the SAB Talent Challenge.

This Challenge is described as a, “progressive recruitment program designed to provide employment opportunities to young graduates while immersing them in SAB’s business and culture.”

Here the company explains that the program is structured around three key work streams – Commercial, Supply Chain, and Technology – all within the SAB environment. It adds that participants will engage in a multi-phased journey that involves solving real-life business problems.

The Talent Challenge is also focused on young graduates in particular, looking specifically at these aged between 18 and 30. Applications for the Talent Challenge are now open and will be accepted until 31st May 2024, SAB has confirmed.

The different elements of the Challenge will take place between 1st June and 31st July 2024, it added in a release shared with Hypertext, with the Grand Final Interview set for some time in August this year.

“We are proud to announce the launch of the SAB Talent Challenge. It’s important that all public and private stakeholders play their part in investing in young talent. The SAB Talent Challenge is our way of upskilling young people with soft and hard skills that will build their confidence and aid them in positioning and differentiating themselves in the job market. It will also empower them to navigate the country’s corporate landscape by exposing them to real-life business challenges,” enthused Bridget Makhura, VP of People at SAB (pictured above).

“The candidates will undergo an assessment that will evaluate them across a range of abilities and behavioural styles. The selected participants will be placed into teams of three members each. The teams will be assigned to the different divisions, and they will receive the selected business challenge,” the company added.

Those who excel in the programme could be looking at a job at SAB down the line too.

“The team with the best solution will be invited to the SAB’s offices and will have the privilege of presenting to SAB’s senior leadership. A selection of top-performing candidates will be given employment opportunities at the SAB in one of the company’s graduate programs,” it continued.
