Control your climate through Xiaomi AIoT

We have already introduced you to Xiaomi’s exciting range of Artificial Intelligence Internet of Things (AIoT) Smart Appliances, and taken a deeper dive into the devices made for the kitchen but today let’s look at how you can control the environment of your home, work, school or any other setting.

South Africans have, in recent memory, had to consider climate control options where they haven’t before. The country’s (in)famously hot months are becoming even hotter, and the usually mild months are becoming even colder. This has left many citizens unprepared and considering options that are shockingly expensive, difficult to install and simply not what many South Africans want to deal with.

Again, Xiaomi has factored all of this in. The company’s range of AIoT Smart Appliances are already in the country and available from mistore.africa, Yuppiechef, Takealot and Incredible.

While each of these devices do something different to combat heat, cold, humidity or air purity, they all share the same Xiaomi AIoT Smart Appliance DNA. This includes seamless integration with the Xiaomi Home app, Google Home and Amazon Alexa, a unified design language that fits into any décor and fantastic local pricing that allows you to build a smart home for much less than you may think.

For when it’s hot:

To beat back the heat consider the Xiaomi Smart Standing Fan 2 Pro (seen in the video above) or the Xiaomi Smart Standing Fan 2 Lite.

For those who want a traditional plug and play fan, with all the benefits of the smart Xiaomi ecosystem, the Xiaomi Smart Standing Fan 2 Lite is the way to go. Its seven customisable fan blades, adjustable height and 90 degree horizontal swing creates a 16 metre cool down range.

The Xiaomi Smart Standing Fan 2 Pro goes a step further with a double layer (7+5) fan blade configuration, 140 degrees of swing and carefully tuned motors which not only allow for 1 000 precise speed settings, but also reduce power usage. This is of particular note as you can use this fan even during loadshedding thanks to its long-lasting 33.6Wh lithium-ion battery pack.

A personal feature we love that we’d like to end off on is the silent operation for both of these devices. The Xiaomi Smart Standing Fan 2 Pro operates at less than 58 db(A) and the Xiaomi Smart Standing Fan 2 Lite at less than 37dB(A).

To put that into perspective, according to the International Noise Awareness Day website, a normal conversation is only 60 decibels, which means both of these fans are less noisy than a regular discussion. These fans are actually closer to rainfall at 50 decibels and a soft whisper at 30 decibels.

For when it’s cold:

If you want to heat up your space while taking up as little space as possible, consider the Xiaomi Smart Tower Heater Lite, pictured above. This compact package provides you with a 2 000W ceramic heater that can get up to temperatures of between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius in just three seconds. Put aside the days of being cold and miserable as the old and inefficient heaters waste your time (and money) coming up to temperature.

Once it’s warm again the Xiaomi Smart Tower Heater Lite packs away neatly thanks to its slender form factor. If you’ve been struggling with where to put the Winter equipment, this will be much appreciated.

Need a bit more oomph for larger spaces? The Xiaomi Smart Space Heater S (pictured above) is the way to go. This heater not only increases the wattage to 2 200W, but it also allows for finer temperature control between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius. Xiaomi has engineered a clever two-way heat emission system which helps warmth spread better in a room while improving circulation.

Those worried about safety will be happy to know that both of these heaters feature IPX4 splash-proof water-resistance.

For when you want more control:

With Xiaomi you can take control of the very air you breathe.

The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact, seen in the video above, gives you a lot of clean air in a small package. Using real-time air quality monitoring, this device operates a 360 degree air intake system to suck up air and purify it through a special three-in-one filter that traps particles as small as 0.3 microns.

Our favourite feature of the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact is its ability to help scrub the air of pet dander and other allergens. For families of pet lovers, who also have some allergic folk in them, this can be a godsend and the difference between a happy family reunion and a miserable visit filled with allergies. It’s not just pets either as allergen removal technology does the same for those sensitive to certain kinds of plants and pollen.

As the colder months roll around dry air is soon to follow. This can lead to skin problems, sore eyes, chapped lips and even breathing problems.

The Xiaomi Smart Humidifier 2 (pictured below) is the instant answer to these problems. Unlike dumb humidifiers which simply dump water into the air, this smart AIoT humidifier instead monitors the humidity levels to provide you with the desired outcome.

The four litre water tank provides up to 300 millilitres of mist per hour, so you can enjoy multiple hours of misting even at the highest setting. Combine that with quiet operation and silver ion antibacterial technology, and this is definitely a device you will be using all day every day.

Your Xiaomi Smart Humidifier 2 is also compatible with essential oils, so you can enjoy aromatherapy with the same machine.
