GTA VI to launch in Fall (our Spring) next year

  • Following the release of trailer late last year that teased a release for some time in 2025, Rockstar Games has provided a narrower window for Grand Theft Auto VI.
  • GTA VI is now expected to launch in the Fall of 2025, which is Spring for those in the Southern Hemisphere.
  • Whether it can keep to the newly updated launch window, remains to be seen.

Late last year Rockstar Games released the first trailer for its highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI or GTA 6).

The trailer, which has racked up more than 190 million views on YouTube to date, looked like a Florida Man fever dream, but unfortunately only provided a broad launch window of 2025.

For those eagerly awaiting the release of this game, Rockstar Games has provided an updated launch window following an earnings call this week with its publisher Take-Two Interactive. To that end, the developer expects to launch GTA VI in Fall next year, which is Spring for those in the Southern Hemisphere, and in particular those of us in SA.

The earnings call also detailed the slate of key titles that Take-Two is planning to release next year, including Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game, Star Wars Hunters, and NBA 2K25. A screenshot of future lineup slate within the earnings call, featured below, also confirms that the title is set for console release first for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

“As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion. Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI,” noted Take-Two chairman and CEO, Strauss Zelnick.

“We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase. Looking ahead, we believe that our Company is poised to achieve new levels of success, and we expect to deliver sequential growth in Net Bookings for Fiscal 2025, 2026, and 2027,” he added.

It is clear that much is expected of GTA VI, both from long time players of the franchise, and the company who is making/publishing it.

Either way it will be interesting to see when GTA VI gets an official launch date, and whether Rockstar will be able to keep to the timeframe.
