Huawei introduces Watch Fit 3 as its latest affordable wearable

  • Huawei has debuted a new iteration of its affordable smartwatch in the form of the Watch Fit 3.
  • The new device features a squarer design compared to past iterations, as well as rotating crown.
  • It is already available for pre-order in South Africa.

Huawei has a new smartwatch and Apple may not be pleased. The new offering is a follow up to its affordable Watch Fit lineup in the form of the Watch Fit 3.

This device, along with seven others, were unveiled by Huawei last night at a global launch event in Dubai, and the company has wasted no time in getting local smartwatch fans interested in the wearable. This as it is already available for pre-order in South Africa, with a recommended price tag of R2 999.

Huawei is also looking to sweeten the pre-order deal for those who visit its local Online Store, with a pair of FreeBuds SE 2 wireless earphones (valued at R1 499) being bundled in while stocks last. The device will also be available to purchase from 14th May, so Huawei has indeed wasted little time in bringing its latest wearable to our shores.

So what is on offer outside of the new squarer design? Well there is a rotating crown too, which seems to draw inspiration from the Cupertino-made product as well.

Added to this is a 1.82″ AMOLED screen which delivers 371ppi and a 30Hz refresh rate. The Watch Fit 3 is quite slim and lightweight too, weighing 26g sans strap and measuring 9.9mm thin.

“This new smartwatch promises to revolutionise the way you monitor health, stay connected, and express your personal style,” enthuses Huawei in a release shared with Hypertext.

“The WATCH FIT 3 is also equipped with a range of advanced health and fitness monitoring features, including the new HUAWEI TruSleep 4.0 science-based sleep tracker and the upgraded HUAWEI TruSeen 5.5 health monitoring, which ensures precise heart rate readings and efficient analysis of workout performance and daily health,” it adds.

Lastly worth highlighting is battery life, which has been a hallmark of Huawei wearables for some time now. Here the Watch Fit 3 can operate up to 10 days under normal use, and up to seven days with heavy use. It also features a fast charging function that can take it from zero to 100 percent battery capacity in roughly 60 minutes.
