Lenovo reveals its Copilot+ laptop lineup

  • Lenovo has revealed its Copilot+ laptops in the Yoga Slim 7x and the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6.
  • The laptops feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite platform and promise multi-day battery life.
  • The laptops will be available in Europe from June, but South African pricing and availability is yet to be confirmed.

This week Microsoft revealed Copilot+, a designation that tells shoppers a laptop meets a certain spec and contains the hardware required to run artificial intelligence applications. So far ASUS and Microsoft have revealed laptops, and now Lenovo has too.

The laptops in question are the Yoga Slim 7x and the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6. Both laptops will house Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite platform and “up to 1TB” of storage. That storage is important as Windows Recall – the feature that records everything you do on your PC – is incredibly storage-hungry.

“As we enter the beginning of the AI PC era—a once-in-30-years inflection point in the market—we are proud to offer one of the widest portfolio of AI-ready devices, AI-enabled solutions, and AI-optimized experiences to customers worldwide and bring AI to all,” said Luca Rossi, president of Lenovo’s Intelligent Devices Group.

“The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 are the newest members of Lenovo’s portfolio of devices that harness the new power of AI including multiday battery life and faster, more secure client-based processing that delivers to users the ultimate in personalization and control, unleashing their unlimited potential for creative expression and unparalleled productivity,” Rossi adds.

Aside from Copilot+’s AI features, Lenovo says that – like ASUS – it will be taking advantage of the Snapdragon X Elite’s power to drive Lenovo AI Core. This feature adjusts power and efficiency depending on the task at hand.

Also like ASUS, these laptops will have incredible displays. The Yoga Slim 7x for instance covers 100 percent of the sRGB colour space and DCI-P3 gamut while also support DisplayHDR True Black 600. The ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 is a bit more varied with three display options.

The full specs for both laptops are as follows.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x will be available starting June, with an expected starting price of €1 599. The Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 will be available starting June 2024 in the UK and Germany but the rest of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region can expect the laptop to land sometime in August at an expected price of  €1 769.

Unfortunately, local pricing and exact launch dates have yet to be revealed.

While the promise of multi-day battery life and optimisation for AI are tempting, the real test of these PCs will be how they perform. Windows is very hungry for resources as is AI so we’re curious to see how a Snapdragon platform handles both.
