PlayStation’s latest Days of Play promos kick off tomorrow

  • PlayStation South Africa has detailed the first wave of promotions it has in store for Days of Play, starting tomorrow.
  • The sales event begins first thing on 29th May and ends at midnight on 12th June.
  • Discounts have been applied to PlayStation consoles, peripherals, VR headsets, and games.

PlayStation has announced what is in store for its latest Days of Play promotions, which kick off tomorrow – 29th May. There are local details too, for those South Africans who wish to decompress with some discounted gaming after heading to the voting stations on Election Day.

The company confirmed that this Days of Play starts first thing on 29th May and runs until midnight on 12th June.

“To mark this special occasion, we’re giving away new avatars to all PlayStation players throughout Days of Play. Starting May 29, players can access avatars that commemorate some of the popular titles that will be offered through PlayStation Plus during Days of Play,” PlayStation shared in a blog post in terms of what is in store.

“You can find them on the PlayStation Plus web page or visit the PlayStation Plus Days of Play page on your PS5 or PS4 console to get the voucher code. These PlayStation Plus avatars are free for all PlayStation players to redeem. Stay tuned for more free avatars during Days of Play,” it added.

Luckily there is a bit more on offer, as SpongeBob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake, AEW Fight Forever, and Streets of Rage 4 feature as the PS Plus for the month starting on 4th June.

Added to this Premium members will get access to a number of other titles with PSVR 2 owners gaining Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, Walkabout Mini Golf, Synth Riders, Before Your Eyes, and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapters 1 & 2, from 11th June.

Joining the above are Tomb Raider Legend, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus as PS2 classic options, as well as Dredge | PS4, PS5 (available May 29), Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, Cricket 24, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition. as the PS5/PS4 titles.

As for the retail therapy part of Days of Play, local distributor Gamefinity having confirmed the following discounts on hardware, peripherals, and games:

  • “Up to R1 200.00 off PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition
  • Up to R1 500.00 off PlayStation VR2
  • Up to R300.00 off DualSense Controllers
  • Up to R800.00 off select titles including:
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • The Last of Us Part II Remastered
  • Rise of the Ronin.”

“Participating retailers include BT Games, Checkers Hyper Tech X, Computer Mania,  FNB Connect, Game, Game4U, HiFi Corp, Hirsch’s, House & Home, Incredible Connection, Expert Stores, KOODOO.co.za, Makro, MHC, The Nexus Hub, Takealot, Toys R Us, Toy Zone, and ZAPA,” it concluded in a release sent to Hypertext.
