Tarsus partners with Scale Computing to offer a VMware alternative

  • Tarsus Distribution has signed a partnership with Scale Computing to offer its SC//Platform locally.
  • The SC//Platform is a competitor to VMware and Scale Computing and promises major reductions in management costs and the total cost of ownership.
  • Both parties seem keen to shake up the cloud market in South Africa.

Local technology distributor, Tarsus Distribution has announced that it will be partnering with cloud solutions provider Scale Computing in a bid to offer up more choice for those looking for cloud solutions.

While VMware is usually the first stop for those looking to expand their cloud aspirations, Scale Computing wants to change that. The firm even offers to pay the remainder of your VMware term when switching to its SC//Platform. That’s a bold claim to make as is a downtime reduction of 90 percent a total cost of ownership by 40 percent.

“Our new partnership with Scale Computing is an important step in our efforts to set new standards in IT efficiency and reliability, fostering growth and operational excellence for businesses across our markets. Their focus on practical and reliable computing solutions aligns perfectly with what our partners and their customers need,” explained general manager for enterprise solutions at Tarsus distribution, Alan Hawkins.

The SC//Platform combines simplicity, high-availability, and scalability, replacing existing infrastructure and providing high availability for running virtual machines in a single platform. Regardless of hardware requirements, users can run applications in a fully integrated platform that is designed to run efficiently at the edge from the off.

Tarsus says it’s ready to help customers either move from VMware or help first-timers in the field get started with Scale Platform.
