• OPPO is preparing to launch its latest smartphone lineup in South Africa with the Reno12 series.
• Local retailer Cellucity already has the Reno12 Pro 5G listed on its website for consumers to register their interest.
• The retailer has also shared the key specifications and recommended pricing for the device, despite OPPO South Africa not doing so.

If you tuned into the Champions League final at the weekend, and saw Real Madrid lift their 15th trophy in the tournament, you may have also noticed one of the key sponsors OPPO, which teased the impending arrival of its new Reno12 series.

Locally OPPO South Africa has also been highlighting its forthcoming release, even creating a landing page for consumers to register their interest in the new devices, but Cellucity may have let the cat out of the bag.

This as the local retailer already has the Reno12 Pro 5G model posted on its website for consumers to be waitlisted.

While that normally would not be a problem, as pre-orders for upcoming devices is now a coming occurrence in SA, OPPO has has not officially shared the specifications for the Reno12 Pro 5G, nor has it detailed the local recommended pricing for the smartphone.

As such, with OPPO South Africa set to host a local launch event later this month, all of the information for the flagship model in the Reno12 series is now known. In particular, recommended pricing appears to be R18 499 if the post on Cellucity is to be believed.

The pricing is more favourable than the Reno10 Pro+ 5G we reviewed last year, but we are still to see what the Pro+ model of the Reno12 series will cost. Going on past devices, we should see it priced close to the R22k or R23k range.

Hopefully the rest of the information for the series stays under wraps until OPPO officially launches it later this month. This is important as information leaking too early can scupper any kind of momentum the brand has aiming to create, especially given how competitive the premium mid-range space is in South Africa.
