SPEEDRUN – MultiChoice helps take out major piracy network in Africa

Say a prayer for WakaTV, the pay-to-watch pirate streaming service that steals content from MultiChoice and DStv. Also say a prayer for the yearly subscribers to WakaTV that paid over R1 000 for pirate content.

According to MultiChoice, which joined a team made up of local cybercrime fighters and the Western Cape government, WakaTV has “thousands” of people paying to watch, and now key people involved in the operation are being charged after a raid on the company.
