• Opera has added a number of improvements to its Aria AI for the Opera GX browser.

Norwegian browser maker Opera really wants gamers to download its Opera GX browser. Marketed as a browser for gamers, Opera GX gives you the ability to restrict the resources the browser has access to as well as offering customisation of the browser window itself.

Now, Opera is adding a slew of features powered by artificial intelligence to the browser. To be clear, these new features build on top of the in-browser AI, Aria.

So what is new? For one, image generation in the browser. Users can fire a prompt to Aria and using Imagen2 by Google, it will generate an image.

Users can generate 30 images per day per user. Sticking with images, Aria can now also better understand images. This means you can share a picture of a headset that a streamer is using and it can identify the brand and model. Opera says the model can even solve math problems.

In addition, Aria will now read out answers it generates using Google’s WaveNet model.

“It benefits those who normally use screen readers, like to multitask, or need to hear information instead of reading it,” Opera said in a press release.

There are also two new text-based chat features namely Chat Summary and Links to Sources. Chat Summary allows you to summarise the text in a chat with Aria so that you don’t miss any points. Link to Sources does what it says on the tin and provides links to the sources Aria is using to answer a question.

“With these new features, Opera GX is giving Aria a significant buff and providing the gaming community with an up-to-date AI assistant that is now more accessible and capable than before,” the browser maker said.

These new Aria features are free to access for all Opera GX users which is also free to download. We’re not the biggest fans of the browser, mainly because we value Brave’s ad-blocking and anti-tracking features a bit more.

Opera GX isn’t the only browser with Aria with practically every major browser incorporating AI into its app in some way.
