While loadshedding has been suspended for over 100 days at this point, South Africans live in fear that power cuts will return. Indeed, last week, load reduction made an unwelcome return as Eskom battles overloading in certain areas.

The good news is that with many folks now acting as if loadshedding never existed, retailers selling backup power supplies have had to reduce prices. Case in point – EcoFlow.

Starting today – 15th July until 19th August, EcoFlow is reducing prices on its top-tier backup power stations.

In face of rising energy costs and increased energy needs during winter, the seasonal sale provides a wonderful opportunity for people to integrate solar energy systems into their daily energy consumption routine,” the company writes.

So what’s on sale?

First up we have the Delta 2 with a 220W bifacial portable solar panel. This combo will cost R19 999 (a saving of R5 999) and keeps you energised even in the event of an extended outage thanks to the solar panels. Just note that the Delta 2 has a 1kWh capacity so at 220W, charging will take a while. Still, it’s better than nothing and the Delta 2 will run TVs, computers and other electronics for a few hours.

The most affordable special though is the River 2 Max with a 160W bifacial portable solar panel. Usually this combo retails for R11 999, but starting today it’s priced at R8 999. The River 2 Max is a great little backup battery that’s perfect for charging laptops and powering routers during power outages.

Finally, we have the Delta 2 Max and EcoFlow’s 800W Alternator charger.
