HONOR reveals launch date for its latest Magic V3 foldable

  • HONOR is set to reveal its upcoming foldable, and many other premium devices in a showcase on 12th July 2024.
  • This includes a new premium smartphone as well as a new tablet and laptop.
  • The HONOR Magic V3 may only land in the local market well into 2025 seeing as HONOR’s international launches always lag behind its Chinese ones.

The CEO of Chinese smartphone maker HONOR has said that “a big wave of new flagship products is coming” and surfing at the top of this wave its the company’s latest upcoming foldable, the HONOR Magic V3.

George Zhao, HONOR chief executive, announced on Weibo that the Magic V3, as well as the latest MagicPad 2 and the MagicBook Art 14, which he says is a “brand new category” are all set to debut at an upcoming showcase event on 12th July 2024 in Shenzhen, the city where the company is headquartered.

It is likely that the Chinese availability of these devices will be revealed at the 12th July event, with an international release date likely announced soon after.

Zhao included an image of what appears to be the Magic V3 in its unfolded state. “Just halfway through 2024, the magic feast continues!” he says.

Most of the devices to be revealed at the showcase in Shenzhen will likely not be seen in South Africa. The brand only offers the Pad X9 locally and not the MagicPad brand. MagicBooks also haven’t been available locally.

In fact the only product likely to see South African stores after this launch will be the Magic V3 foldable. Not even the Magic Vs3, which is probably a more affordable version with less premium features of the foldable, will make it here.

But! HONOR has launched the Magic V2 locally, which saw a release date in April this year. With the Magic V3 looking at a July launch date, we may see the device in the local market a few months after its international availability, but the international launch itself will come several months after the Chinese launch.

We may only see the latest HONOR foldable in South Africa well into 2025, which could disappoint local fans of the series.

Not much else is known about the Magic V3, other than it will likely be much thinner than its predecessor and will likely sport a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Much more will be revealed in the July showcase, when we will have more to tell you.
