- A partnership between Microsoft and Marvel ahead of the Deadpool and Wolverine film will see one fan win a special themed Xbox and a very special controller.
- Two Xbox controllers are up for grabs, fashioned after Deadpool’s own butt cheeks.
- Whether or not the controller will be comfortable to use, the competition has definitely generated buzz.
On a Wednesday afternoon? Often times Xbox will announce a new controller with a different colour scheme or theme or even a wide array of accessibility options for all players, but a controller with butt cheeks?
A new competition partnership between Microsoft and Marvel ahead of the Deadpool and Wolverine film will see one lucky fan win a special movie-themed Xbox and a pair of wireless controllers that feature Deadpool’s firm peach, as in the cover image above. Oh! And a pair of rubber katana modelled after the pair carried by the infamous merc.

“The appropriately named ‘Cheeky Controller’ channels Deadpool’s buns of steel in its firm (yet surprisingly comfortable) grip. Designed by the Merc with a Mouth himself, it also comes clad in the anti-hero’s instantly recognizable—and might we add, incredibly flattering—red and black tactical suit,” says Xbox in a blog post about the competition, a “sweepstakes.”
“Beginning today, fans aged 18+ around the world can enter for a chance to win by following Xbox on X and reposting the official Xbox sweepstakes post,” the company explains.
The movie launches at theatres on 26th July 2024, while everyone will get a chance to see the film, only one lucky fan will get Ryan Reynold’s bottom on their hands. Another great bit of news is that anyone from around the world can enter the competition to receive the Deadpool-themed Xbox.
To sweeten the deal a bit more for fans in the US and Canada, the first 1 000 fans to purchase an Xbox Elite Wireless controller series 2 – Core from the Microsoft store on 22nd July will receive an exclusive Cable Guys Deadpool Controller Holder by EXG Pro – South Africans fans will unfortunately not be able to win the holder.
There is a lot of buzz happening around the rear-themed controller, with “Deadpool” and “Xbox controller” trending for hours on Wednesday after the announcement. The partnership has definitely worked in generating attention and the unique-looking controller, while likely to be difficult to play with for hours, will likely make a great novelty piece – or perhaps the most expensive controller ever sold on eBay – in a few years.
You can find the full rules of competition here, entries close on 11th August and only those 18 and older can enter.
