- Fighting Games Fest is the latest Steam-wide event.
- It is live right now until 22nd July.
- The fighting game community is said to be the inspiration.
With the Steam Summer Sale just wrapped up less than a week ago, users of PC’s favourite store are in for another site-wide event in the form of Fighting Games Fest 2024.
This event is live right now and will run until 22nd July. It is separated into six sections:
EVO getting its own section isn’t a surprise as the community of fighting game enthusiasts is the inspiration for Fighting Game Fest.
“Though there are lots of cool games about fighting, this fest is specifically celebrating games in (or inspired by) the Fighting Game Community (FGC). Fight as a superhero, or a silly animal; fight in fantastical stages and arenas or in… a parking lot. Either way, be prepared to FIGHT!,” reads the official announcement from Steam.
The Fighting Game Fest and EVO (taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall) will have a few days of overlap. EVO is going on between 19th and 21 July this year.
Of the eight games being played at EVO, six of them are currently discounted on Steam. THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV has the steepest discount at 70 percent while Street Fighter 6 and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection are without any sale at all right now.
Outside of the connection to EVO, the Fighting Game Fest is yet another sale with the main way users at home can participate is to break out the credit card. In the many games available and on sale, the one that caught our eye is DRAGON BALL FighterZ. Despite being Dragon Ball fans, we just haven’t picked this one up yet. It’s currently 84 percent off, making a purchase rather tempting.
For those who don’t want to spend a cent, remember to check out the free demos and upcoming sections. Everyone is also able to pick up three cosmetic items in the Steam Points Shop with an animated sticker, animated avatar and avatar frame all available right now for free.
