Bolt offering 10 000 free rides this Women’s Month

  • Bolt has announced a new promotion to celebrate Women’s Month.
  • It is offering 10 000 free rides to the value of R50 when travelling to women-owned establishments.
  • The promotion aims to incentivise local travellers to head to women-owned businesses this month.

This Friday, 9th August, South Africa celebrates Women’s Day. To mark the occasion, as well as celebrate what remains of Women’s Month, ridesharing platform Bolt has announced a new promotion.

To that end, it will be offering 10 000 free rides to the value of R50 for anyone travelling via its platform to women-owned establishments.

“Bolt is proud to announce the #BoltRoadToEqual initiative to support women-owned businesses,” it shared in a release with Hypertext.

“This initiative underscores Bolt’s commitment to gender equality by supporting women-led businesses and ensuring equal earning opportunities for women. By providing free rides to women-owned establishments, Bolt aims to create greater visibility and support for these businesses, fostering an environment where women can thrive,” it added.

In terms of some of the women-owned establishments available in the country’s major metropoles, Bolt has highlighted Constitution Hill and Yococo in Johannesburg, Iziko Museum, The Artery, Riverine Rabbit, Theonista, and Sugarbird Gin in Cape Town, and Amazwi Abesifazane, The Chefs’ Table, and Culinary Table in Durban.

To make use of the promotional offer while free rides are still available this Women’s Month, Bolt shared the following steps:

  1. “Open the Promotions tab in your Bolt app
  2. Click on the Enter promo code;
  3. Type in the code Mbokhoto68 and press the Apply button.”

“This initiative reflects our commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women. By providing free rides to women-owned businesses, we hope to create lasting impact and inspire future generations,” added Sandra Buyole, regional PR Manager at Bolt.
