Nominations open for 2024 IITPSA President’s Awards

  • The Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) have announced that nominations are now open for the 2024 President’s Awards.
  • This year’s theme is Celebrating leaders in ethical digital transformation.
  • Nominations close at the end of August, with an awards ceremony slated for November.

It is that time of the year again when the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) holds its annual President’s Awards.

To that end, the organisation has announced that nominations are now open for the 2024 iteration of the event.

This year’s IITPSA President’s Awards will focus on nominations under the theme of “Celebrating leaders in ethical digital transformation,” specifically highlighting the importance of keeping ethics at the core of digital transformation.

“Digital technologies now drive every aspect of work and life. Now more than ever before, it is crucial for IT professionals to be ethical and committed to the public good,” noted IITPSA president, Senele Goba, regarding the theme for 2024.

Nominations will be open until at least the end of August, the IITPSA confirms, as it has in past years chosen to extend the nomination period should it wish for greater input from certain segments of the local IT sector.

As in previous years, winners will be named at an awards ceremony in November.

As for the different categories, the IITPSA’s biggest are Visionary CIO and IT Personality of the Year.

“The Visionary CIO Award honours a CIO who has demonstrated visionary leadership in using IT to support, grow and transform business and/or who has established best practice in implementing technology solutions in an organisation,” the Institute explained in a release sent to Hypertext.

“The IT Personality Award recognises a highly respected and outstanding ICT professional who has made a significant technical or academic contribution to the industry, who has been successful in building a highly-respected IT organisation or business, and/or who has made a major contribution to the IT profession over a number of years,” it added.

The other categories include the Technology Excellence Award, the Social Responsibility/Community Award, the Dynamism in ICT Youth Award, and the Fellowship of the Institute Award.
