Apple to unveil a slew of new Mac hardware this week

  • Apple is gearing up to announce a new munger of new Mac products this week, starting this afternoon.
  • The company’s SVP of worldwide marketing, Greg Joswiak, confirmed the upcoming announcements on X.
  • It is rumoured that new MacBook, iMac, and Mac Mini devices are expected running M4 silicon.

This week is going to be a busy one when it comes to new Apple hardware, as the Cupertino-based company is preparing to announce a number of devices to add to its Mac lineup.

The forthcoming devices have been rumoured for some time now, and were even expected to only be revealed in the new year, but it looks like Apple is aiming to move some additional product this festive season.

To that end, SVP of worldwide marketing at Apple, Greg Joswiak, took to his X account to confirm that new Mac hardware was indeed on the cards this week.

We should not have to wait that long either, with the first set of announcements slated for Monday morning in the US, which translates to this afternoon for those in South Africa.

While which devices in particular are set to be unveiled remain unconfirmed at this stage, rumours suggest we will see new MacBooks with M4 chipsets, with it having been a year since the previous generation offerings were unveiled.

Joining the MacBooks are some new iMac option powered by M4 silicon, according to reports, with a new Mac mini also on the cards, which too will feature the M4 for its processor.

With Apple’s in-house silicon having proved quite popular since debuting a few years ago, the company’s foundry has been working overtime to churn out new processors, each more powerful than the next.

It will therefore be interesting to see whether the debut of new M4-powered Mac devices will see a boost in the sales of older generation hardware too.

Along with planning a bunch of M4-powered Mac announcements, on the software side of things, Apple Intelligence is rolling out to selected devices in the US today too. While countries like South Africa will have to wait until December for the to happen, you can see which devices will receive Apple Intelligence at launch by clicking on the post embedded below.
