- Apple Intelligence is set to arrive in the US on selected devices next week.
- The on-device AI offering will be accessible via iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.
- For those in South Africa, Apple Intelligence is expected in the first week of December.
If you have been patiently awaiting the release of Apple Intelligence, which was initially set to roll out alongside iOS 18, the AI-powered suite of features are landing next week – 28th October to be more precise if you reside in the United States.
For those in regions like South Africa, Apple Intelligence will only arrive in the first week in December, with it being supported in English for SA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK too. Other parts of the globe will need to wait to hear when they can access it.
“Over the course of the next year, Apple Intelligence will expand to more languages, like Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and others,” Apple confirmed in a blog post.
While availability details in terms of regions are difficult to pin down, what is known as this stage is the operating system and devices required to access it.
Regarding the former, Apple has confirmed that iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 will be required for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices respectively.
As for the devices, the following have been outlined:
- iPhone 16,
- iPhone 16 Plus,
- iPhone 16 Pro,
- iPhone 16 Pro Max,
- iPhone 15 Pro,
- iPhone 15 Pro Max,
- iPad and Mac with M1 and later,
- iPad mini (2024).
It is a rather slim amount of options, especially on the smartphone side of things, with Apple noting that the specification and performance of the processor playing a key part in enabling the AI-powered feature.
This is very much the case with any smartphone maker touting on-device AI at the moment, which seemingly remains a feature for flagship phones only.
