- Two Russian YouTubers have made videos revealing the unreleased M4 version of the MacBook Pro.
- The new laptops have yet to be even announced by Apple, with Mark Gurman calling the potential leak “unprecedented.”
- YouTuber Wylsacom found that the alleged M4 version performs about the same as the M3 version on benchmarks.
In what Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman calls a potentially “unprecedented” leak, the as-of-yet unannounced MacBook Pro laptop with the brand new M4 chip from Apple has already been unboxed and revealed by at least two Russian content creators.
Unconfirmed but looks fairly legitimate: a Russian YouTube channel claims to have the yet to be announced M4 MacBook Pro and gave it a full unboxing and hands-on. We’ve seen prototypes leak early but never a full retail Apple device weeks in advance. https://t.co/LYrt68ZmEn

The veracity of the laptops in the videos has not been conclusively defined, and discussions are still taking place about whether or not this is the real M4 version of the MacBook Pro. As we await word from Apple, take anything you see and read with a pinch of salt.
While the fact that Apple was working to release a new MacBook PC and an iPad was not a secret, these machines were only expected to be revealed by the Cupertino tech giant later this month, with a release date at some point in November, according to Gurman’s Apple newsletter.
At least two YouTubers, namely Wylsacom and Romancev768, have created content with what is seemingly the new M4-equipped MacBook Pro laptop. While the cover of the box of the laptop in Wylsacom’s video is the same as the M3 version, which is unusual because Apple always produces new box art and designs, the YouTuber does show that the MacBook’s box says “M4 chip.”

All Wylsacom says about “procuring” the potentially new MacBook is that “some random guy on the street” gave it to him. Sure, man, we believe you. According to information scoured by The Verge, a private Facebook group in Russia is selling the new MacBook Pros.
Leaker ShrimpApplePro claims that around 200 MacBook Pros have been leaked (read: stolen) from an Apple facility. Apple doesn’t even sell products in Russia any more, officially at least. We’re not even sure what Apple can do about the leak. The Russian police aren’t going to arrest either of the YouTubers, they likely don’t care.
More photos of it confirmed it’s real. Apparently it is on sale in a private Facebook group lmao https://t.co/eSoXY5NHg9 pic.twitter.com/lxW9rbilSE

As for any notable news in the alleged leak videos, Wylsacom found a Geekbench score of 3 864 on single-core tests and 15 288 on multi-core tests for the M4 MacBook Pro. Compared to the M3-equipped MacBook Pro, he says the “difference is significant but not overwhelming.” He posted 2 974 on single-core tests and 20 881 on multi-core for the M3 MacBook Pro from 2023.
If he does indeed have an M4 MacBook Pro, it will be interesting to see how Apple pivots their launch presentation for the new laptop series. Especially given that their performance capabilities have been leaked in this video. Apple loves to say that their latest machines are “the best,” and “the fastest” with however many percentage points of improvements.
Here we see that the M3 version is actually on par with the M4 version, again, if the leak is legitimate.
