It is turning into a banner day for generative AI platforms and announcing the availability of new offerings.
In the case of Anthropic it has made a desktop version of its Claude AI chatbot app available to download for free for both Windows and Mac.
This latest announcement follows a flurry that Anthropic has made in recent weeks.
Last week for example it made a new “computer use” function available that leverages an AI agent of sorts to read the information on a user’s computer screen. This is designed to generate better answers or perform more functions, with the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model used to so and identify elements such as what is on display, the movement of the cursor, clicked buttons, and entered text.
It should, however, be pointed out that this “computer use” function is not accessible in the newly launched desktop app for Claude.
