We have already brought you an article diving into the features of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series and its four model options – and many more colour / strap options – available to South Africans, so today let us zoom in on one specific feature: battery life.
When wearables first hit the scene, it was very common for them to need a daily charge and, only as wearables became more popular, did wearables come into the market which could finally last more than a day on a single charge.
Aside from the annoyance of needing to remove your wearable – an accessory that the world was used to wearing indefinitely – it also hampered the functionality of the wearable to track exercise and other health indicators, monitor sleep patterns and provide the true second screen experience that people wanted.
As battery technology in wearables improved Huawei made several waves over the years by offering more and more battery life in their wearables, creating smart devices that could not only be worn for day or two, but for several days… then a week and now, with the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5, two full weeks.
The 46mm version of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 and the 46mm version of the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro can both last a maximum of 14 days on a single charge. You don’t even need to skimp on features to get that much life either as, in Huawei’s testing, that two week life was accomplished while using the default device using features such as Bluetooth, audio playback, exercise tracking and more sparring.
As you turn on more features Huawei found that battery life decreased, but still managed an impressive nine days of life, beating out the full week. Finally with regular use and the Always On Display enabled, battery life is now at five days.
While lower, it was unheard of for an Always On Display wearable to get so many days on one battery charge, especially considering the large size of the screen on both of the 46mm versions – a beautifully crisp 1.42 AMOLED.
Shrinking down your HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 comes with a lower battery life, but still impressive numbers from Huawei. The 41mm HUAWEI WATCH GT5 and the 42mm HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Pro can both last up to seen days on a single charge. This drops to five days with regular use and three days when using the Always on Display.
Again, while this is less time, it’s still a remarkable achievement for wearables, especially as you consider more features and the immense value that Huawei is offering South Africans.
Features like faster charging that can replenish the battery in just 30 minutes so, not matter how much you use your HUAWEI WATCH GT 5, you never have to be without it for long.
