• Checkers Sixty60 is expanding the number of premium products you can order for same-day delivery on its app.
• The expansion is part of a phased rollout, starting with elected suburbs in Cape Town.
• More than 10 000 premium products are now available to purchase on the platform.

Checkers Sixty60 continues to be one of the leaders when it comes to ecommerce locally, with the company’s latest move being to expand the number of premium products you can purchase for same-day delivery on its recently revamped app.

This latest announcement forms part of a phased rollout that Checkers has planned, and it begins in Cape Town, with a selected number of suburbs in the region being earmarked for this initiative.

Last month it added Checkers Hyper products to the app, and right now more than 100 premium products have been added to the mix from upwards of 100 brands.

“After intensive development, we’re confident that the next iteration of Sixty60 will again disrupt online retail in South Africa. Our precision delivery promise has been designed around our customers, which means no more waiting at home all day for your general merchandise order to arrive. Customers choose the 60-minute time slot for their Hyper delivery to arrive and can track the order in real-time as it gets delivered in a flash,” noted Neil Schreuder, chief of Strategy and Innovation for the Shoprite Group.  

“Our homegrown innovation teams are powering our drive to become Africa’s most profitable omnichannel retailer,” he enthused in a release shared with Hypertext.

Of the aforementioned 100-plus premium brands, products from the likes of Apple, Dyson, Thule, Smeg, Samsung, and Harmon Kardon have been added, with more being slated over the coming months.  

As for the areas where you can purchase the 10 000-plus products, the following suburbs in Cape Town have been outlined:

• Kuils River,
• Brackenfell,
• Durbanville,
• Bellville,
• Goodwood,
• Edgemead,
• Milnerton,
• Century City,
• Table View,
• Blouberg,
• Parklands,
• Rondebosch,
• Observatory,
• Gardens,
• Sea Point,
• Camps Bay. 

Checkers also pointed out that Hyper products on Sixty60 qualify for free delivery until the end of 2024 as part of the launch, so now is a worthwhile time to try it out if you can.
