Huawei to host foldable event in Dubai to close out 2024

  • Huawei Mobile has announced that will host an event in Dubai on 12th December.
  • The event will focus on a foldable, although it is unclear whether this will be a new model.
  • Huawei may be preparing its recent Mate X6 and Mate XT for launch outside of China.

2024 may be coming to an end, but Huawei still has a few more devices it plans to reveal before that happens. This as the company has announced an upcoming event in Dubai where a Huawei foldable has been confirmed.

Confirming the news via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, Huawei Mobile posted that the event will take place in the UAE city come 12th December 2024.

“Unfold the classic as a new era of flagship foldable excellence begins. Dubai. 12 December 2024,” the post stated.

At the time of writing, it is unclear which precise device the smartphone maker is planning to reveal in Dubai, but if we had to venture a guess, the trifold sporting Mate XT from a couple of months ago, as well as the folio-style Mate X6 that was unveiled in China last week, seems the likeliest candidates.

As such, the company may be preparing to launch the two latest Huawei foldable devices outside of China, which is the only region where they have been available to officially purchase to date.

In terms of any other hardware, Huawei may also have a tablet in the form of a 2025 edition of the MatePad 13.2″ on the cards, as well as the FreeBuds Pro 4 being rumoured by some publications.

Whether we will see the Mate 70 series take a bow in Dubai is unclear for now, especially as its predecessor and the silicon it housed proved to be a little controversial when it comes to the ongoing US sanctions.

Either way, if you were keen on checking out some new Huawei foldable devices for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, you’ll be able to do so next week Thursday.
