OPPO rolls out ColorOS 15 in SA, these phones will support it

  • OPPO has announced the rollout of its ColorOS 15 operating system on selected devices this month in South Africa.
  • Four OPPO models are slated to receive it this month, with a further three set for early next year.
  • The key element contained within ColorOS 15 is the integration of Google Gemini 1.5 Pro and 1.5 Flash.

As an early Christmas gift to its local smartphone users, OPPO South Africa has announced the rollout of its latest ColorOS 15 operating system.

The new OS is designed to leverage more AI-powered features, and in particular leans on the collaborative efforts between Google and OPPO when it comes to AI-focused smartphones. To that end, it is integrated with Google Gemini 1.5 Pro and 1.5 Flash.

There are said to unlock, “advanced language processing, task management, and search capabilities,” according to OPPO.

“One of the standout features of ColorOS 15 is AI Recording Summary, which transforms lengthy voice recordings into concise, polished summaries. Whether for meetings, lectures, or brainstorming sessions, this feature ensures that users save time and effort without compromising on detail or accuracy. The system’s smart document editing capabilities allow users to easily refine and restructure their notes and documents, delivering professional results in seconds,” the company highlighted in a release to Hypertext.

Not all OPPO smartphones will gain access to the capabilities of ColorOS 15, however, with a selected number of models being chosen.

For December, the OPPO devices set to receive the new OS via an update are:

  • OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G,
  • OPPO Reno12 FS 5G,
  • OPPO Reno12 FS,
  • OPPO Reno12 F 5G.

In the new year, a handful more models will receive the update too. They are:

  • OPPO Find N2 Flip,
  • OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G,
  • OPPO Reno10 5G.

Other features in ColorOS 15 highlighted by OPPO include Circle to Search with Google, the Google Gemini app, AI Performance Booster, and Advanced Homescreen Personalisation.

“The operating system is designed to provide a smarter, faster, and more personalised experience, ensuring that OPPO devices remain at the forefront of innovation,” noted OPPO SA.

“With ColorOS 15, we’ve focused on delivering meaningful enhancements that make everyday tasks easier and more efficient for our users. It’s all about creating a user experience that is both intuitive and supportive of their needs,” added Avashnee Moodley, head of Marketing in South Africa for OPPO.
