- Glovent Solutions has introduced a new real-time speeding enforcement feature to its mobile app.
- Rather than receiving penalties as part of a levy statement, speeding residents will receive notification of penalties immediately in a bid to immediately address the offence.
- Community managers can customise the feature to suite the specific needs of the estate they manage.
Those who live within residential estates and complexes are well aware that despite speed limits being posted on the internal roads, these may as well be absent given the way some folks drive. It seems that once folks pass through the gates of an estate or complex, they believe the rules of the road become a mere suggestion.
To assist in the enforcement of speed limits on the roads of estates and complex, Glovent Solutions has added a feature to its smartphone-based community management system. This system has been deployed in more than 100 high-end residential estates in South Africa.
The system will now inform residents of speeding offences in real-time. Previously, residents were only notified at the end of the month when they received their levy statement. By this point the offence is likely forgotten and the resident will simply wave any penalty they receive off as a blip.
By notifying the resident in real-time and making the penalty separate from the levy statement, the hope is that the penalty has more of an impact on the actions of drivers.
“The launch of our advanced speed management for residential estates follows yet another holiday season disaster on our roads,” Savanne Robertze, the speed management product lead at Glovent Solutions explains. “South Africans choose gated communities because their children can more safely play in the streets. We need to safeguard this benefit with advanced speed enforcement technology that promotes good order.”
Speeding is monitored by the estate through cameras in real-time and community managers can, at a glance, see data regarding penalties issued and which payments have been received.

Glovent notes that offences are verified as enforceable before being sent to residents so as to avoid confusion and most likely push back from offenders. Community managers can also customise the system including where penalties are sent and they can even offer discounts for early payment.
The solution Glovent has crafted is rather robust and even includes an SOS suite for residents in the event of an emergency. We highly recommend community managers at residential estates looking to streamline operations and move to a digital ecosystem check out the offering here.
