- HONOR South Africa has confirmed that the latest laptop it will officially launch locally will be the MagicBook X14.
- The Intel-powered laptop can best be described as an all-rounder.
- HONOR confirmed the news at its launch event for the X9c smartphone.
Over the past two years, HONOR has slowly been building up its reputation as a reliable smartphone brand in South Africa. The slow and steady approach has seemingly been working, as HONOR saw its business expand by 180 percent by the end of 2024, as well as selling more than 1 million units locally in that time.
Now the company is turning its attention to a different product segment for local consumers – laptops. Here HONOR plans to officially launch its latest laptop in South Africa with the MagicBook X14.
Described as “powerfully compact” by HONOR, we can see why is has opted for this to be its latest laptop in the country, as it ticks a number of boxes and is not restricted to one particular consumer segment.
As such, we’d best describe it as an all-rounder, based on the specifications of the device.
To that end it is Intel powered and will run Windows, but there is no mention of Copilot+, like some of the other devices that HONOR has revealed globally of late. Up to an Intel Core i5-10210U processor will be available internally, although we will need to see which skews will be sold via local retailers in the coming weeks and months.
Precisely when the MagicBook X14 would be brought to our shores is not confirmed at this stage, but HONOR did tease its impending arrival at its local launch event for the mid-range X9c and X7c smartphones.
Fitted with a 14″ FullHD display, slim aluminium body, and up to nine hours of video playback from a fully charged battery, the MagicBook X14 could be an interesting prospect, provided pricing is favourable, especially given the sheer volume of new hardware being brought to market as the PC sector aims to ride the current AI wave for a device refresh across varying industries.
When more details on the laptop are shared by HONOR SA, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
