How the Galaxy S25 Ultra compares to the S25 and S25+

  • Samsung has revealed three devices in its Galaxy S25 series, with the Ultra being the highest specced.
  • All three devices feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
  • The S25 Ultra is the only one of the three to feature a massive 200MP lens on the rear.

Leaked days before an official unveiling, as is often the case with Samsung’s flagship smartphones, we now know what the Galaxy S25 series is all about. As in past years, there are three specific models of note, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra leading the pack in terms of specifications.

While the S25 Ultra is beyond contestation in certain aspects, it does not feature the best specifications across the board.

With this in mind we’re talking about closer look at the Galaxy S25 series, and pointing out where the Ultra model is powered by better components than its brethren.

Before that, however, let’s highlight where all three devices are same. The first element to mention is the chipset – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite.

It will handle many of the multi-modal on-device AI experiences across the S25 range, and while the Ultra features a bit more RAM (16GB) versus the other two devices, in general, performance and capabilities in terms of on-device AI should be about even.

The other aspects where there is no difference is the front facing camera, with a 12MP wide-angle lens being used for selfies for all three smartphones. Sticking with lenses, on the rear, all three feature a 50MP wide-angle and 10MP telephoto sensor. Crucially though, the S25 Ultra adds a mammoth 200MP wide-angle and 50MP periscope telephoto lens to its array.

We have not tested it out yet, but given how impressive the past two models in particular have been, we’re anticipating noticeable improvements to the other S25 models on the Ultra, with the former already setting a solid bar.

Naturally the Ultra weighs more as it features a larger display, battery, and storage. Added to this is its titanium body, with four colours options being brought to SA.

All of this results in a device priced at R30 999 (RRP), a full R10k more than the regular S25.

The full range of specifications on the Galaxy S25 series features below, with the Ultra’s leading components highlighted.
