- Samsung is set to host its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025 on 22nd January.
- The event will be live streamed and starts at 20:00 South African time.
- The phone maker is expected to launch the Galaxy S25 series, and its “next evolution of Galaxy AI”.
Later this week, 22nd January to be more precise, Samsung will host its first Galaxy Unpacked event for the year.
As has become its modus operandi in recent years, the South Korean phone maker is aiming to get ahead of its flagship Android competition by hosting a live stream event for its latest mobile hardware before anyone else.
It worked to good effect last year with the S24 series and Galaxy AI, as many other flagship phone manufacturers learned into on-device AI with the help of Google, so it is expected that Samsung will aim to push the boat out even further when it comes to AI ecosystem.
“Get ready for AI that is more natural and intuitive. The next evolution of Galaxy AI is coming and it’s going to change the way you interact with the world every day. The new Galaxy S series is about to set the bar once again for mobile AI experiences now and into the future,” an invite for Galaxy Unpacked detailed.
Along with the S25 series, Samsung is expected to reveal more on its extended reality (XR) headset, Project Moohan, which it is developing in partnership with Google. No market-ready device is anticipated, but many are hoping to see more details on what the headset can do, and when Samsung plans to launch a fully fledged offering.
Added to this are rumours of a Slim version being added to the S25 flagship lineup, as well as a new iteration of the Galaxy Ring wearable that the company surprised everyone with last year.
Whether more surprises are on offer remains to be seen, but the best way to tune into the live stream will be via Samsung’s official YouTube channel. A placeholder for the livestream is already up, and we have embedded it below, should you wish to head back to this story to watch as the announcements happen.
We’ll also be in attendance for the local Galaxy Unpacked event, and will be posting all the announcements on X, so be sure to follow there if watching a live stream is too data intensive.
