Samsung introduces Vision AI for flagship smart TVs

  • At CES 2025, Samsung unveiled Vision AI for its latest lineup of flagship smart TVs.
  • The new lineup is led by the Neo QLED 8K QN990F TV.
  • Vision AI features a number of new features to enhance picture quality, viewing experiences, and integration with other smart home devices.

The main focus at Samsung at the moment is on-device AI. With an upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event later this month, this week has seen the South Korean firm unveil some new flagship smart TVs at CES 2025.

Here the company also debuted Vision AI, which aims to not only make the TV the entertainment hub of the home, but also the smart hub of the home.

“Samsung sees TVs not as one-directional devices for passive consumption but as interactive, intelligent partners that adapt to your needs. With Samsung Vision AI, we’re reimagining what screens can do, connecting entertainment, personalisation and lifestyle solutions into one seamless experience to simplify your life,” outlined SW Yong, president and head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

While Vision AI is limited to a handful of new flagship smart TVs, such as the Neo QLED 8K QN990F, Samsung has detailed how the new offering will evolve the smart TV experience for its customers moving forward.

These features include Click to Search which offers instant information about what’s on-screen, as well as Live Translate which provides real-time subtitle translations (supported languages not mentioned), along with Generative Wallpaper which transforms screens into personalised art canvases akin to the company’s The Frame smart TV.

In terms of the picture quality, Vision AI will be able to analyse content and environmental factors in real-time to adjust visuals and audio for an optimised experience, according to Samsung thanks to the On-device AI picture and sound technologies features.

Added to this are a handful of tools for Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem in particular. These include:

  • Home Insights provides real-time updates about your household environment, including safety alerts and daily updates, ensuring peace of mind whether users are home or away from home.
  • Pet and Family Care keeps a watchful eye on loved ones, detecting unusual behavior in both pets and family members. It enhances comfort by automatically adjusting room settings, like dimming the lights when a child falls asleep, while providing real-time updates and recorded events through TVs.”

While Samsung has not detailed which specific models will be able to support Vision AI, it has noted that newer Neo QLED, OLED, QLED, and The Frame smart TVs will gain access to the software suite in the coming months.
