Scheduling posts now fully available on Threads

  • Meta has announced that users can now schedule posts in Threads.
  • It was a feature being tested out by a small subset of users in December, but is now available to all.
  • The feature is part of larger plans to make Threads more attractive to brands and companies.

Scheduling posts in Threads is now available to all users. It is a feature that many have been requesting ever since the Meta-owned social media platform wanted to become a serious alternative to X (formerly Twitter).

The ability to schedule posts was being tested out by a small subset of users last month, and it appears as if those tests went smoothly as Meta is now rolling out the feature to all users.

“Some Threads updates today to help manage your presence on the app: You can now schedule posts on Threads, and metrics for individual posts are rolling out in Insights,” shared Instagram head, Adam Mosseri in a Threads post.

“We’re also adding the ability to ‘markup’ a post that you’re resharing so you can add your creative take, starting with a few countries with more to come soon. More to come soon,” he added.

When creating a post in Threads, you will see a three dot icon, which when clicked on, opens up the ability to schedule posts to be shared at a specific time. Should you wish to edit the post, change the time, or delete it, it can be viewed in the drafts folder of the app. You’ll also be able to schedule a post up to 75 days in advance.

This will no doubt be a handy feature for users, but perhaps more importantly in Meta’s view, will make the platform more useful for social media managers working on brands or for companies.

Whether said brands and companies will want to use Threads as a digital space to engage with customers remains to be seen, but the discourse and experience on X worsens, advertisers will likely start looking elsewhere to get their messaging out.

As for the markup feature, there is no word on when that will roll out to customers, but as the name suggests, it will allow you to annotate or draw on posts that you reshare on the platform. For now you can only highlight elements of the post in Yellow, draw arrows in Red, or create little doodles.

It probably won’t be as useful as scheduling posts, but it is yet another in a list of additions that Meta wants to make for Threads.
