Local technology distributor Tarsus Distribution has announced that it will be bring the Self-Learning AI technology from cybersecurity firm Darktrace to African enterprises.

Darktrace is entrenched in artificial intelligence, using the technology in its cybersecurity products since 2013. By incorporating the technology into cybersecurity, Darktrace products are able to effectively defend against unknown threats in real-time. Now, African organisations who depend on Tarsus Distribution for their defences have access to Darktrace’s software.

“Darktrace has consistently demonstrated its leadership in the AI security space. The synergy between Darktrace’s ActiveAI Security Platform and our established channel network ensures that we are able to offer our partners truly cutting-edge cybersecurity. Together, we’re addressing an urgent need for advanced and proactive protection in the African market, which has been increasingly targeted by cyber-attacks,” says Andrew Potgieter, Business Unit Manager for Security and Software at Tarsus Distribution.

The ActiveAI Security Platform provides unprecedented visibility of all threats across an enterprise. The software is able to draw correlations between attacks and contextualise those attacks against the operations of a business (from a data standpoint). The software is also primed to protect against never before seen zero-day threats.

Darktrace customers are said to be able to triage routine investigations faster, speeding up this process by 20 times compared to other Security Operations Centre solutions.

“This partnership is a great step in scaling our operations across Africa, helping to provide our AI-driven solutions to key sectors such as government, mining, and finance. We’re partnering with Tarsus Distribution because they share our commitment to quality relationships and have the logistics reach needed to effectively support our clients. Africa is seeing a significant rise in cybersecurity incidents – we’ve seen a 60% increase in cyber threats from December 2023 to January 2024 alone. This collaboration will help organisations of all sizes defend against the evolving threat landscape,” explains Eloina Pesce, vice president of Channel at Darktrace.

Tarsus Distribution has said that it is committed to supporting its network of resellers with training and resources to insure that Darktrace solutions are deployed effectively. This includes training sessions and hands-on support. This will assist resellers in insuring that African businesses, particularly in the mining and finance sectors, are adequately protected.
