• HONOR has confirmed that it will be delivering a keynote address at Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona next month.
• The company plans to unveil a new strategic direction in what it calls the “Alpha Plan”.
• Details are slim, but the focus will very much be around the company’s AI ecosystem.

We are a few weeks away from this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC25) from kicking off in Barcelona, Spain. While fewer smartphone makers hold events at the annual industry showcase and opt for their own standalone press conferences these days, there are still companies which use MWC as a launchpad for the rest of the year.

One such company appears to be HONOR, with the Chinese firm set to hold a keynote address at MWC25. More specifically it will be unveiling the “HONOR ALPHA PLAN” at an event on 2nd March 2025.

Mobile World Congress takes place between 3rd and 6th March this year, with the day before MWC often refereed to as Day Zero. As such, it looks like HONOR will be unveiling what the company’s new strategy will be moving forward, if the limited details shared about the Alpha Plan are to be believed.

“The term ‘ALPHA’ carries profound significance across multiple dimensions. It symbolizes a pioneering spirit in exploration, represents excellence at the highest level, and stands for exceptional performance through innovation and strategic foresight. The HONOR ALPHA PLAN embodies these core values as the company’s new strategic direction,” the company wrote in an announcement.

“Through this initiative, HONOR is committed to fostering an open and collaborative environment where innovation thrives through partnership. By leveraging its technological expertise and working closely with global partners, HONOR aims to build a robust AI ecosystem that pushes the boundaries of what is possible,” it added.

With HONOR having showcased some on-device AI capabilities with its smartphones and laptops in recent years, it looks like that ecosystem of products is set to expand. Hopefully this also means that more hardware is headed to South Africa, which has quickly become a key territory for the company in the EMEA region in particular.

We should also see the latest flagship phone to be revealed by HONOR at MWC25 – the Magic7 Pro – but other new hardware announcements may also be in the offing.
