OPPO has announced the launch of a new device in South Africa – the Reno13 5G.
The new device sits within the premium mid-range segment, and is the most notable being launched by OPPO for the first quarter of 2025.
Like previous iterations of Reno smartphones brought to SA, it features a solid array of specifications, but the key element is the AI-powered features aimed at those who wish to create, edit, and share content.
To that end, the Reno13 5G has AI Livephoto for improved colour and clarity on motion images, as well as being able to share with iPhone devices via NFC. Added to this is an AI Editor suite with Clarity Enhancer for enhancing the look of cropped or zoomed in images, along with Unblur which works as the name would suggest to make images more crisp, and lastly the ability to remove reflections from images.
There are also a handful of tools to create custom short-length videos and remixing of content thanks to the AI-powered suite on the Reno13 5G. Powering this experience is a Dimensity 8350 chipset from MediaTek, which also supports 5G connectivity on the device.
Other notable elements include two 50MP lenses on the Reno13, with one on the rear as the primary shooting option and one up front for selfies.
It is also worth mentioning that the Reno13 has an are space-grade aluminium frame, one single pane of glass of the rear cover, and an IP69-rated waterproofness and dust resistance.
As for recommended pricing, the Reno13 5G is priced at R18 999 or R799 per month (36 months) on contract, and will be available from local retailers from today onwards.
With the likes of HONOR debuting an impressive mid-ranger, and Samsung expected to reveal a new Galaxy A series soon, it will be interesting to see what OPPO’s offering brings to the table by comparison as the mid-range market continues to be more competitive than ever.
