There is a massive asteroid heading for earth, and there is a tiny percent chance that it will hit around the Africa region. If you’re like us, the idea that there is any chance at all gets your spine tingling a bit. Though fortunately we have quite a while before it gets close enough to our little blue marvel, 2032 to be exact.
Long before that time, scientists will find out if it will hit Earth and then they can do something about it.
“As more observations of the asteroid’s orbit are obtained, its impact probability will become better known. It is possible that 2024 YR4 will be ruled out as an impact hazard, as has happened with many other objects that have previously appeared on the NASA JPL asteroid risk list. It is also possible its impact probability will continue to rise,” writes NASA.
